A-level Chemistry Revision
Get the best grades with your forth-coming A-level Chemistry coursework and A-level Chemistry Examinations, don't leave it all to the last minute, as early preparation usually means better results!
The A and AS Level Chemistry exam revision courses are designed to increase the understanding and application of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry both in theoretical and practical aspects. The course focuses on the specification for each exam board (Edexcel, Edexcel Nuffield, AQA, OCR and WJEC) and the content is delivered in a clear and concise format.
Students are encouraged to attempt past A and AS level chemistry examination questions throughout the course in order to aid recall and application of the subject, in preparation for the A-level Chemistry examination.
The fundamental concepts that are covered in the course include:
Basic skills - Atomic structure and bonding; Formulae and equation writing; Calculation of chemical quantities
Energetics – Defining and measuring changes in enthalpy
Periodic table – Trends, patterns, bonding and reactions of the elements in the periodic table; Behaviour and reactions of the transition metals
Kinetics and equilibria – Studying the qualitative prediction of the direction and extent of chemical change
Organic chemistry – The nomenclature, bonding, reactions and reaction mechanisms of the organic compounds (alkanes, alkenes, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids, nitrogen and aromatic compounds)
Practical skills - An overview of practical skills in chemistry to enable the chemistry student to analyse and evaluate the observations made from practical experiments and record/present results with accuracy and precision.
The essential modules covering the specification are delivered all year round and extensive chemistry revision is available closer to examinations. This comprises of past examination papers, memory aids and the application of effective chemistry revision techniques. For students requiring extra help with specific chemistry modules, one-to-one tuition may also be available.
